Tweet Like a Boss: The Best Ways to Market on Twitter

It's all about making an impression with 140 characters, that includes hastags and links on it. Twitter is one of the pop-you-lar social media platforms today. Its largest audience is currently from USA and is gradually invading the entire universe just like facebook. Twitter works pretty much like facebook and instagram, but people use it to follow celebreties and influential people, as they often use Twitter to post a daily status.

Of course, like every social media websites, Twitter can drive an incredible amount of traffic in your website. Though because of the fact that Twitter was made to promote the "self" through tweet statuses, most marketers are doing the very wrong and annoying way to promote blogs, websites, and products in twitter, and that's something you should avoid. Here are the some ways that you should be doing in twitter as a blog, website, product, and/or business:

Tweet Everyday

People don't want to follow someone who doesn't say too much. Make sure you tweet what you're doing or will be doing everyday. They want to follow a person or a brand that is personal and exciting and never had a dull moment in life. If you know you can't open you twitter everyday, there are social media tools that can help you schedule a tweet per day or per hour or per minute or per second. (I might blog about social media tools in the future as well like hootsuite and buffer... but today is not that day!)

Know what to Tweet

Just like Facebook and all other social media platforms, you have to know what to tell your audience. If you're after smart people, you should tweet about smart things; If you're after fashinoistas, you should tweet about stylish things.; If you're after fans, you should tweet about whatever they're fanning about. And when you tweet, make sure to follow the 5 Tweet Rule... well, I actually made this myself, you might find this helpful:

Follow the right people

If you're a brand of red hot high-heeled shoes, would you follow a guy who's into sports. No right? Unless he has a girlfriend, but what if his girlfriend is into flats. Following the right people can help you boost your audience. Like the 5th rule of the 5 Tweet Rules, if you follow the right people, they would find it easy to relate to your tweets, boosting the probability of being retweeted, favorited, replied and recommended by other users to follow. If you're a blogger, follow other bloggers - you can learn from what they tweet and blog about... and they might just read your blog ones you've get the chance to interact with them.

Abuse the search box

If you can't find the people you need to follow, well, that's why there's a search box on the right top corner. Legend says that if you use quoted words (e.g. "I love pie") twitter would give you tweets of people tweeting the exact phrase. So use it wisely. If you found people who love pie and you're a pastry shop, follow them, send them a message or reply to their tweets and you might just have invited them to buy a pie in your bakery.

Get Socializing

I've probably mentioned this on my previous blog post about social media marketing activities that you're doing wrong. If you're not active enough to talk to people, you won't get the audience you deserve. So make sure you're as responsive as your audience want you to be.

Make lists

Once you've followed a ton of people, you're gonna need to organize them in a classy manner. Twitter has what they call "Lists" so that you could organize people whom you're following. Categories each of the people you're following through what they most likely tweet about, their interests and the way they socialize. This would make it easier for you to know how to reply to them and which tweet you'll reply to for the day or for the week.

Follow Retweeters

Bloggers on Twitter can probably relate to this tip. There are Twitter profiles who retweet your statuses if you tag them. Those who follow these Retweeters might just be interestedon reading whatever you've tweeted, increasing traffic on your website.

And most of all, don't forgetto have fun. Social Media is all about enjoyment so make sure you don't miss that out. Don't miss out the fun of meeting new people every day.
